A portion of the 2012 Ezra Open proceeds were devoted to
Mary Bethune Elementary School in New Orleans.

New Orleans rock band Better Than Ezra celebrates their 10th Annual Ezra Open fundraising event. Partnering with various charities and organizations they were able to raise funds and contribute back to their community. After Hurricane Katrina they officially formed the Better Than Ezra Foundation gaining 501c3 non profit status and established the current mission to commit funding towards the recovery and renewal of the structural and cultural heritage of New Orleans and Southern Louisiana. Since then, the Better Than Ezra Foundation has raised over $850,000 for various causes in and around New Orleans.

Most recently BTEFoundation built an educational playground for the children at Bethune Elementary in the Holly Grove neighborhood of New Orleans, provided school supplies for both the children and faculty throughout the year as well as renovated the teacher’s lounge for the incredible, hardworking staff at Bethune.
